NIGHT PERFORMANCE IN A SHOP WINDOW

After the breaking of nightfall a shop window is transformed into a illuminated stage. Behind the window a woman appears. She melts in with video projections of future dreams and electronic sound landscapes made of pot lids and toppling beer bottles. Loudspeakers are placed outside the shop window so that the audience can hear what goes on behind the lighted window.

The performance received the Hans Christian Andersen Festivals audience prize in August 2015. The performance got 5 out of 6 stars from Morten Vilsbæk, FS, with the words “…It is beautiful and frail when she in silhouette plays the xylophone and breaks the silence in the street … a hair-raising and brilliant use of the urban space”.

A LIGHT IN THE DARK is a poetic work about the inner values of our society. It is created from interviews with four single mothers who grew up under difficult circumstances – four women who receive help from society and for whom everyday is a struggle.

A LIGHT IN THE DARK opens a window into the lives of these women and is a tribute to people who insist fighting and hold on to the light, even though they grew up in the shadow of a dark childhood.
